Benign Prostate Hypertrophy Research - Whats New?

by Bill Harten

Worldwide there are several medical problems that are peculiar to women and peculiar to women. If your considering cancer let’s say, then for women it is breast cancer. However, although it is rare, men can also contract breast cancer.

With men, the cancer most commonly thought about is prostrate cancer. It is more likely that this would be the central topic of conversation amongst a group of men nowadays, with increasing numbers affected by this condition.

To tell the truth, what we all really want to know and understand is how to prevent it from occurring and this means oodles of prostate cancer research.

Most men I know fear cancer and don’t mind admitting it. The possibility, although present, does not dominate my thoughts though. It only seems to bother me when I read something about the condition or hear another statistic about it. The television is the biggest reminder as the number of advertisements about breast and prostrate cancer is increasing. Both will require far more investigation and examination before a cure can be found.

We want an end to cancer because it is still one of the worst conditions known to man. The fact that you cannot inoculate against it or avoid it completely makes it an awful adversary.

Although there are many conditions humans have to suffer this is one of them that cannot currently be completely prevented. Regular exercise, a healthy diet and the like are supposed to help but none of these things are a guarantee against it.

Most other illnesses can be prevented and I am always annoyed when people bring up HIV. Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t want HIV but at least I know exactly how to avoid contracting it.

Research is now available for all to see on cancer or almost any subject. It’s in everyone’s interest to follow cancer research treatments and breakthroughs.

With luck, all this breast and prostrate cancer research will one day pay off and the world will have its cure.

Washington has increased its number of wineries by 400 percent in the last decade. Connoisseurs and the average wine consumer have found a new place to get great wines.

Regardless of the advancement in technology to reduce the work of picking the grapes and making great wine it still boils down to the skill of the wine maker to produce the quality wines Washington is now known for producing.

If you were in France and drinking wine in the regions of Bordeaux and Burgundy you would be at the same exact latitude of the wine country in Washington. With all the positive things going for wine in Washington being designated as American Viticulture Area is certainly a plus!

No crowds, no hurry, no pressure. Isn’t that what a vacation should be? You will experience the peace and pleasure of great countryside and great wine on a wine tour in Washington. Find the wine you like by going to the wine tastings offered by the different wineries. Find a great place to stay while in the area and make it the most relaxing and enjoyable vacation you have ever taken.

It may be dinner time at your house and what better way to set a relaxing environment than to have a wonderful glass of wine with dinner. Perhaps you are having something that a dry white will enhance or maybe you want a full bodied red to wake up your taste buds. Either can be obtained from one of the wineries in Washington.

It’s swirling, sniffing and slurping time when you get a good glass of wine. Swirl the beautiful wine in your glass to get the full color beauty and incorporate some air into the wine. Now it’s time to sniff, what a pleasure to smell the wonderful fragrance the wine gives off. With slurping you get the air mixed with the wine to bring out the full flavor of the choice you have made. Just remember to slurp gently and quietly, it still works and doesn’t drive your guests or family mad with the noise.

If just 1% of the wine grapes of Washington are grown on the eastern side of the Cascades then you would think that it was a poor area for wine growers. In fact, it is a great area where the soil is right, the climate perfect and the growing season long to provide fully ripened, fruit flavored grapes with good acid levels and pleasing aromatics. This area will certainly become more of a draw to vintners in the time to come.

The French, Italians and Germans began planting wine grapes in the state as early at 1825 for their own use when they were settling the area. Commercial planting of wine grapes didn’t being in Washington until the 1960’s with rapid expansion of the industry occurring in the mid-70’s. Now there are new wineries opening every couple of weeks for your enjoyment.

Loose Weight Build Muscle - Nutrition and Supplements

September 30, 2008 | Leave a Comment

by D Vower

Often the topic of Weight Loose Supplements comes up when discussing how to loose weight and gain muscle. There are so many nutritional supplements on the market these days that it’s wise to exercise a bit of healthy skepticism.

Many of the pills around these days are simply packed with stimulants and caffeine. Try not to take these because they can damage your metabolism more than it’s worth in the long run. They do speed up your metabolism, but they’ll also give you the jitters and often make you a bit edgy. There are much better ways to speed up your metabolism and it’s not even all that hard.

Now, the most important thing to remember in your goal to loose weight and build muscle is to do what many bodybuilders and professional fitness trainers refer to as “eating clean”.

Simply feed your body the elements it needs to repair itself from the workouts you’ve been doing. We all know that eating foods like fried chicken and take away fish and chips is not going to give you the quality vitamins and nutrients you need. So what foods should you eat to stay on a “clean diet”?

Let’s start with the essential: Water

I know, it’s not a food. But it is an essential nutrient and our bodies are made up of more than 80% water. So drink it, lots of it. It’s a great cleanser and will aid your body in it’s efforts to rid itself of toxic wastes and will also help you loose weight quickly.

Eat your vegetables! Yep, your mother was right. Fresh fruits and vegetables help your body speed up by providing easily accessable nutrients so your muscles will grow faster and stronger. Your body will burn fat faster too because of the increased muscle mass. When your metabolism is burning fat faster, you’ll feel more energetic and the vitamins will make all the difference in your goal to loose weight and build muscle.

Protein is the most important nutrient for your muscle to grow. Each time you train, you should be having a protein dense meal or shake to give your body all the protein it needs to get it repairing the muscles as fast as possible. The best places to get good quality protein are from whey (or soy) shakes, protein snack bars, and of course, when you’re having a main meal you should use meat like chicken or fish so you’ve got good natural protein sources. If I would suggest any one supplement to use, it’d be a quality whey protein powder so you can have a shake after each and every workout.

Your meals should be about 2-3 hours apart, and you ideally should eat about 5-7 times a day. They should be small meals, but high in protein and essential nutrients. You carbohydrate supply should be from fruits and vegies, and you can use protein snacks like nuts, or protein bars / shakes to keep your cravings at bay while you go through your day.

Top Choices of Home Cures for Hemorrhoids

by Kyle Stanley

Hemorrhoids are a common ailment that strikes nearly eight in every ten people at some time in life. They can also be an embarrassing problem that many do not like to talk about, even to their own doctors. The good news is that there are many options in home cures for hemorrhoids that you can try from the comfort and privacy of your own home.

If you think that you may have hemorrhoids, it is always best to consult with your doctor; he or she can give you a diagnosis and suggest treatments for your condition. Some of the symptoms of far more serious diseases (such as cancer) can be mistaken for the symptoms of hemorrhoids, so if in doubt, ask your doctor.

After you make sure that this is truly the problem, try a few home cures for hemorrhoids before deciding if you really need to go see your doctor for help. If the hemorrhoids are fairly small and do not cause a lot of discomfort you may get relief from a home cure for hemorrhoids. This may take care of the problem and eradicate the pain, thus the need for a doctor visit is not needed. These methods are not expensive and basically require that you make a few changes to your lifestyle that will result in better health and no more pain.

Watch What You Eat

The first of these home cures for hemorrhoids which you should try is simple enough - add more water and fiber to your diet. If you know that a food tends to cause constipation for you, avoid it! Get lots of fruits, vegetables and while grains. These dietary changes will keep your digestive system and entire gastrointestinal tract running efficiently.

Drinking plenty of water is also a key in a home cure for hemorrhoids, since this will also keep your digestive system running smoothly. Both of these steps will keep stools soft and help prevent the straining in the bathroom that is a common culprit of hemorrhoids. If dietary changes are not sufficient, a stool softener can also be taken.

Still another home cure for hemorrhoids is to use a medicated pad to pat the area several times each day. Tucks is one such product that many people use. There are also medicated ointments that can be used. This will not only protect the hemorrhoid but cut down on the amount of discomfort that they cause.

A warm soak for ten to fifteen minutes, three or four times a day can also be effective as a home cure for hemorrhoids. After a few days, your symptoms will likely ease. Avoid irritating the area - use soft toilet paper and apply it very gently. Also, try not to do any heavy lifting, this kind of strain can worsen hemorrhoids.

If it is confirmed by your doctor that you have hemorrhoids, many home cures for hemorrhoids are available. If these do not work for you, go back to your doctor and see what other treatments for hemorrhoids are available.

Overview on Ovarian Cyst Types

September 30, 2008 | Leave a Comment

by Jay Tyler

Functional ovarian cysts are a fairly common problem among women and should usually not be a cause for concern. Most ovarian cysts do not lead to or indicate cancer. Though some cysts may cause discomfort and others may require some treatment, the majority of functional ovarian cysts are asymptomatic and do not require treatment.

When ovulation does not happen, or when a mature follicle breaks down, a simple form of ovarian cyst may form, called a follicular cyst. This cyst can become as large as 2 or more inches in diameter, but will usually disappear by itself after only a few months, and will usually show no symptoms.

An ovarian gland will produce progesterone during the ovulation portion of the monthly cycle of menstruation when the egg is released, and this is when a corpus luteum cyst could potentially develop. When a corpus luteum is healthy, it is approximately one inch in diameter, round in shape, and fluid filled. Corpus luteum cysts do not usually have noticeable symptoms. They can develop at the end of a menstrual cycle or early on during a pregnancy. Many of them do not require treatment, and, fortunately, disappear on their own.

Hemorrhagic cysts generally hold blood within them. While they don’t have a tendency to burst, when they do burst the loss of blood can cause uncomfortable, even burning feelings in the pelvic area. This type of cyst usually does not require any treatment and is actually quite common. If needed, they can be removed with surgery if the danger of endometriosis is a concern.

Women can develop dermoid cysts at any time and age, but dermoid cysts are a higher risk during the childbearing years. A dermoid cyst is one type of an ovarian cyst that grows from the totipotential germ cell in the ovaries. Tissues such as bone, teeth and hair can form from this ovarian cell. Dermoid cysts may contain solid physical tissue. Sometimes doctors find hair and teeth forming in these cysts. They are commonly removed because they may block the flow of blood to the ovaries.

An ovarian cyst that is pathological includes both tumors and endometriosis. These are not common and can only be found after examination by a doctor. A tumor can be defined as a pathological ovarian cyst and be either cancerous or not, benign or malignant. Tumors need to be dealt with as soon as they are discovered. A tumor is generally 6 cm or over, thick walled and persistent. On the other hand women in their prime reproductive years will often develop endometrioid cysts. These endometrioid cysts are present when a woman has endometriosis and are formed when a portion of endometrial tissue bleeds, falls off and then becomes transplanted in the ovaries.

The different types of ovarian cysts must be diagnosed and treated appropriately. However, all women should speak to their doctors about ovarian cysts in order to be properly informed and guard their health.
